Influenced by Humanism, the Enlightenment, and the Baroque, Holberg is regarded as the founder of modern Danish and Norwegian literature.

He is best known for the comedies he wrote in 1722–1723 for the Lille Grønnegade Theatre in Copenhagen, and his works on natural and common law were widely read by Danish law students for over two centuries (1736–1936).

This neoclassical bust by Bertel Thorvaldsen captures Holberg’s intellect, wit, and cultural significance. The reproduction is created from high-resolution 3D scans of the original sculpture, preserving every fine detail.
